Orographic mechanical and surface thermal effects of the Tibetan–Iranian Plateau on extratropical intraseasonal waves in boreal summer: numerical experiments

چکیده

Abstract The intensity and location of boreal summer extratropical intraseasonal oscillations along the subtropical westerly jet (EISO-SJ) are crucial in triggering distributing extreme events over Eurasia. Based on numerical experiments, this study distinguishes orographic mechanical surface thermal forcing Tibetan–Iranian Plateau (i.e. TIP-MF TIP-TF) EISO-SJ. primarily modulates amplitude EISO-SJ that strengthens upstream weakens downstream. Comparatively, TIP-TF not only reduces/increases TIP upstream/downstream, but also significantly migrates track northward. Further analysis demonstrates changes jet, eddy energy propagation conversion consistent with This indicates variations sensible heating interannual variation global change, as well terrain uplift paleoclimate influence mid-latitude subseasonal variation.

Orographic Controls on Climate and Paleoclimate of Asia: Thermal and Mechanical Roles for the Tibetan Plateau

Prevailing opinion assigns the Tibetan Plateau a crucial role in shaping Asian climate, primarily by heating of the atmosphere over Tibet during spring and summer. Accordingly, the growth of the plateau in geologic time should have written a signature on Asian paleoclimate. Recent work on Asian climate, however, challenges some (not all) of these views. The high Tibetan Plateau may affect the S...

Orographic Effects of the Tibetan Plateau on the East Asian Summer Monsoon: An Energetic Perspective

This paper investigates the dynamical processes throughwhich the Tibetan Plateau (TP) influences theEast Asian summer monsoon (EASM) within the framework of the moist static energy (MSE) budget, using both observations and atmospheric general circulation model (AGCM) simulations. The focus is on the most prominent feature of the EASM, the so-called meiyu–baiu (MB), which is characterized by a w...

the effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends

flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...

on translation of politeness strategies in dialogues involving female characters in translations and retranslations of novels translated before and after the islamic revolution of iran and their effects on the image of women: a polysystem theory approach

abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...

the effects of planning on accuracy and complexity of iranian efl students’ written narrative task performance

this study compared the different effects of form-focused guided planning vs. meaning-focused guided planning on iranian pre-intermediate students’ task performance. the study lasted for three weeks and concentrated on eight english structures. forty five pre-intermediate iranian students were randomly assigned to three groups of guided planning focus-on-form group (gpfg), guided planning focus...
